But I won’t do it, because I don’t want anyone to give me credit beyond what they can see in my life or hear in my message.

This day and age it's quite common for people to advocate for attention or recognition. This can be for performing a monumental feat or a basic duty they're supposed to be doing anyway.
Yet, we guard our shameful secrets better than a government agency.
As Christians, we have to be able to have tough conversations. The kind that opens up vulnerabilities in our smooth, projected images.
That doesn't mean we have to tell everyone what's happening in our lives. But it might.
One thing I take away from this scripture is, if we're seeking applause for our exploits and blessings then we could probably use some balance by also hyping our shortcomings and blunders.
I've found that good news travels far and bad news travels frequently.
Bad news is we'll always have this sinful nature. The good news is we serve an awesome God who forgives us when we have contrite hearts and humble egos.
